Seven players with college hockey ties - an incoming recruit, a current player and five former players - have been named to the 2013 U.S. National Inline Team that will compete at the 2013 IIHF World InLine Championship in Germany June 2-8.
The group will seek to return to the gold-medal game at the world championship after falling short last year for the first time in four years.
Leading the way are goaltenders Jerry Kuhn of Western Michigan and Nick Maricic of Yale. Both played for the U.S. in 2012. Maricic is looking to follow up on the NCAA championship he won with the Bulldogs this spring in Pittsburgh.
Matt White, who will be a senior at Nebraska-Omaha in the fall, and incoming Western Michigan freshman Kyle Novak both made the team. Former college players Nielsson Arcibal (AIC), Pat Cannone (Miami) and Dakota Eveland (Colorado College) round out the college representatives.
Competition gets underway Sunday against Slovenia. The U.S. also meets Canada and Slovakia before medal round play begins June 6. Eight nations compete in the "A" pool for the world championship.
The U.S. is coached by Joe Cook, a former Miami defenseman who became a legendary roller and inline hockey player.
