Hobey Hat Trick Named for 2015
Jack Eichel, Zane McIntyre and Jimmy Vesey are top three for college hockey's highest individual honor.

Boston University's Jack Eichel, North Dakota's Zane McIntyre and Harvard's Jimmy Vesey are the top three candidates for the 2015 Hobey Baker Award, which announced the trio as its Hobey Hat Trick on Thursday. The award winner will be revealed Friday, April 10, at Matthews Arena in Boston (5 p.m., NESN, NHL Network).

The group, chosen by the 27-member selection committee from 10 finalists, includes two NCAA Frozen Four participants (Eichel and McIntyre) and a second local product (Vesey). Criteria for the award includes outstanding skills in all phases of the game, strength of character on and off the ice, sportsmanship and scholastic achievements.

  • Leads the nation in scoring with 67 points, the most for a freshman since Hobey winner Paul Kariya in 1992-93

Jimmy Vesey, Harvard (Jr., F, N. Reading, Mass./South Shore-EJHL)

  • Leads the nation in goals with 32 in just 37 games
  • Won the Walter Brown Award as the top American-born player in New England
  • ECAC Player of the Year and first-team all-conference
  • Nashville Predators draft pick
