Backcheck: Kyle Turris

Kyle Turris
Kyle Turris has had a big impact in his first season with the Ottawa Senators.

Listening to Kyle Turris, you'd never think he only spent one year at Wisconsin.

"It's a special place," he says. He raves about his friends and teammates, the atmosphere on campus and the level of hockey.

In a way, the New Westminster, B.C., native never left Madison, as he returns to the school each summer and stays in close contact with his friends. Now in his fourth year as a pro, Turris is on his second NHL team and enjoying a breakout season with the Ottawa Senators.

It wasn't always an easy decision for Turris to take the college path, but it's one that paid dividends, as you can tell from his smile when you ask about Wisconsin.
