2017 Conference Tournaments

The six Division I conferences each hold a postseason tournament to determine which team earns their automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Atlantic Hockey

Format: All 11 teams make the playoffs. The top five seeds receive first-round byes while Nos. 6 through 8 host Nos. 9 through 11 in best-of-three first-round series. The teams that advance are reseeded and face the top three seeds (No. 4 hosts No. 5) in best-of-three quarterfinal series on campus sites.
Semifinal and Championship Site: Blue Cross Arena, Rochester, N.Y.

Big Ten

Format: All six teams make the playoffs, which are held over three days at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The top two seeds receive first-round byes while Nos. 3 through 6 face off on Thursday. On Friday No. 1 will face the winner of the No. 4/5 game and No. 2 will face the winner of No. 3/6.

WCHA

Format: The top eight teams make the playoffs. Top four teams host best-of-three first round series, followed by best-of-three semifinal series the next weekend. The championship game is a single game held on the campus of the higher seed the following weekend.
