Mike Snee
Executive Director

A talented hockey executive with experience in amateur hockey and the NHL, Mike Snee was named College Hockey, Inc.'s Executive Director on Aug. 28, 2012.

Snee joined College Hockey, Inc., from Minnesota Hockey, where he spent four years as the Executive Director. During Snee’s tenure with Minnesota Hockey he led a multi-platform strategic plan to ensure the long-term growth of the sport in Minnesota. He led the organization’s branding and communications efforts and nearly tripled corporate sponsorship revenue in just four years. He also served as a member of the USA Hockey Marketing Committee.

Prior to joining Minnesota Hockey, Snee spent nine years with Minnesota Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild. He served stints as Director of Corporate Sales and Director of Ticket Sales and worked closely with college hockey as the Xcel Energy Center hosted the annual WCHA Final Five and the 2002 NCAA Frozen Four.

Snee led one of the most successful sponsorship groups in the NHL and helped spearhead the creation and execution of Hockey Day in Minnesota in 2007, a state-wide celebration of the game. Previously he led the initial ticket sales efforts for the expansion Wild, which produced a season-ticket base of 16,000.

Snee, a 1991 graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., started his sports business career as an intern with the Minnesota North Stars and also worked for the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Moose of the now-defunct International Hockey League.

Nate Ewell
Deputy Executive Director

Nate Ewell joined College Hockey, Inc., as Director of Communications in January 2011 and coordinates the organization's digital media, media relations and communications efforts. He was named Deputy Executive Director in January 2013.

Prior to joining the staff of College Hockey, Inc., Ewell served as the Vice President of Communications for the NHL's Washington Capitals. In eight seasons with the Caps, he created a comprehensive media strategy for league MVP Alex Ovechkin, established a program for accreditation of bloggers that became a model for other sports franchises, and led a staff that captured four consecutive Dick Dillman Awards as the top media relations group in the NHL's Eastern Conference.

A 1996 graduate of Princeton University, where he was the sports editor of the campus newspaper, Ewell went on to become the Assistant Sports Information Director at Michigan State University. There, he served as the principal media contact for the MSU men's hockey program.

In 2002, Ewell co-founded "Inside College Hockey," a popular web site and ESPN.com affiliate that showcased the personalities, issues, and events of NCAA college hockey.

Ewell worked for NBC Sports during its coverage of the Olympic hockey tournament at the Winter Games in Salt Lake City (2002) and Torino (2006).  He has also served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, teaching a class in its Sports Industry Management master's program on sports communication and public relations.

Kyle Lawson
Director of Education and Recruitment

Kyle Lawson joined College Hockey, Inc. in January 2013 as the organization's Director of Education and Recruitment. In that position, Lawson plays a leading role in the organization's efforts to promote college hockey to talented young players and their families.

Lawson, 25, was a four-year standout and two-year alternate captain at Notre Dame who has enjoyed a three-year professional career. Named the CCHA’s Best Defensive Defenseman in 2008-09, he was second-team All-CCHA that year and honorable mention All-CCHA in 2007-08 and ’09-10. The New Hudson, Mich., native was an alternate captain on the U.S. National Junior Team that won bronze at the 2007 World Junior Championship.

A draft choice of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2005, Lawson signed with Carolina after his senior season and spent two years with the organization in Albany (AHL), Charlotte (AHL) and Florida (ECHL). He spent this season with the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) before retiring from playing to assume his new role.

Prior to enrolling at Notre Dame Lawson played for the U.S. National Team Development Program, in the United States Hockey League and for the Honeybaked AAA program.
