Hockey Community Rallies for Daubenspeck
Former University of Wisconsin goaltender Kirk Daubenspeck suffered a severe brain injury in a car accident on Thursday, February 17, when his car collided with a semi in foggy conditions.
Daubenspeck remains in critical, but stable condition. He has a severe brain injury and remains in a coma. A fund has been established to help cover Daubenspeck’s medical costs that are not covered by insurance.
Former Wisconsin coach Jeff Sauer and some of Daubenspeck’s teammates have led the effort to raise funds to help with the medical bills. Donations can be made at any State Bank of Cross Plains location, or on the bank’s web site, crossplainsbank.com.
Daubenspeck’s recovery will be a lengthy one; he lives in Madison, Wis., but is currently in a Milwaukee hospital.
Daubenspeck and his wife Peggy have a one-year-old son, and she is pregnant with the couple’s second child. Any contributions to his medical fund are deeply appreciated by his wife and his family.
