Hartzell Claims Best Goalie Mask Contest

Hartzell Claims Best Goalie Mask Contest

Quinnipiac junior Eric Hartzell’s mask was selected as the nation’s Best Goalie Mask in a vote of fans on College Hockey, Inc.’s facebook page.

Hartzell’s mask features Bobcats on each side, a pawprint on the top and “QU” on the chin. The back features a tribute to his hometown, White Bear Lake, Minn. Hartzell’s mask was airbrushed by Mike Royal of Airbrushzone LLC in Phoenix, Ariz.

Hartzell edged Minnesota’s Kent Patterson in the final round, a frenzied vote that featured more than 1,500 comments in just a little more than a day.

College Hockey, Inc. invited all Division I men’s hockey programs to submit a goalie mask for the contest. Thirty-two submitted masks, and you can see how each round played out by clicking on the matchups in the bracket below.
