NBC Sports to Carry 24 Games
NBC Sports Network, the broadcast home of the NHL, will carry 24 college hockey games in 2012-13, beginning with coverage of the season-opening Ice Breaker Tournament from Kansas City’s Sprint Center on Oct. 12-13.
“It’s great to get national exposure for our sport, and seeing expanded coverage on the network that hockey fans know as the home of the NHL is significant,” said Nate Ewell, College Hockey, Inc. director of communications. “We’re especially pleased that NBC will be covering the Ice Breaker Tournament, which features a terrific field to start the season.”
Army, Maine, Nebraska-Omaha and Notre Dame make up the Ice Breaker field, with games set for 7 and 10 p.m. ET on Oct. 12 and the championship game on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
NBC Sports Network will carry regular-season games from historic college hockey venues like Lynah Rink, Magness Arena, Baker Rink and Alfond Arena, among other stops.
The network has doubleheaders scheduled for Oct. 12, Nov. 30, Jan. 11, Feb. 22 and March 22.
NBC Sports Network’s season concludes with four games in the Hockey East Tournament, including a quarterfinal matchup March 15, the two semifinals March 22 and the championship game March 23.
