CBC Highlights Kunitz’s Ferris St. Roots
Scott Oake talks to the former Bulldog about his experience playing college hockey.
Chris Kunitz, who led Ferris State to its first NCAA Tournament as the CCHA Player of the Year in 2003, was featured on CBC’s “Inside Hockey” Sunday with a look at his college roots.
“Getting the college degree was something that was highly sought after for me,” said Kunitz, a Regina, Sask., native. “Falling in love once you get there with the school, and my friends, and eventually meeting my wife at school was kind of a turning of the tides, becoming an adult. It was such a blessing to be able to go to college.”
CBC’s Scott Oake conducted the interview, which also looked at Kunitz’s early NHL career, including the trade that brought him to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
From there he has flourished much like he did in Big Rapids, finishing the 2012-13 season seventh in the NHL in points (52) and eighth in goals (22).
