Revive Rivalries in Alumni Tourneys

New events encourage former college players to gather old teammates in pursuit of the Alumni Cup.

Revive Rivalries in Alumni Tourneys

Former college hockey players spend plenty of time reliving past glories and rarely give up the animosity that exists in college rivalries.

Now, thanks to the new Alumni Cup Tournaments, those former players have the chance to bring those memories back to the ice.

Alumni Cup Tournaments

Former UMass Minuteman Scott Crowder and former Norwich Cadet Lou DiMasi set out to create a setting where former college players, both men and women, can relive their successes against opponents from their own playing days.

“College Hockey is such a great experience for so many people.” said Crowder. “Lou DiMasi and I wanted to create an event to cater to former college hockey players. We wanted to put together a weekend for college hockey alumni to reunite with old teammates, reignite the rivalries and relive the glory days of playing college hockey and being on campus. We hope the College Hockey Alumni Cup Tournaments will give former players that opportunity.”

In their first season, Alumni Cup Tournaments will be held in two locations:

  • Aug. 16-18 in Marlborough, Mass.
  • Sept. 13-15 in Blaine, Minn.

Competition at each venue will include both men’s and women’s tournaments in three divisions: 30 and Under, 40 and Under and 40 and Over.

College Hockey, Inc. has partnered with Alumni Cup Tournaments to help promote the events to college coaches and alumni. Former players are encouraged to reach out to alumni groups and fellow alums to put together teams and celebrate the years that many call the best of their lives.
