College hockey and its feeder programs enjoyed remarkable nights Friday at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo. Consider:
- USA Hockey saw a record 12 players selected among the first 30 picks
- The USHL had a record 10 former players taken
- The BCHL had a record three first-rounders
The numbers within the NCAA ranks were just as remarkable. Among the 11 NCAA players/recruits taken were:
- Four Boston University Terriers, tying a record for one school (2006, Minnesota)
- Three Canadian-born NCAA players, tying a record (2007)
- Four players from outside of the U.S. who will play NCAA hockey, the most ever
The NHL Draft continues Saturday with rounds two through seven.
