U.S. Trims Camp Roster
24 NCAA players remain on U.S. roster set to face Canada, Finland and Sweden.
Twenty-four NCAA players from 13 different schools are among the players named to the final roster at the U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp, USA Hockey announced Tuesday. The camp runs through Saturday at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
The top four scorers through the first two days of camp are all NCAA players: Tage Thompson (Connecticut), Keiffer Bellows (Boston University), Tom Nowak (Minnesota) and Clayton Keller (Boston University).
The two U.S. teams went a combined 3-1 in the first two days of camp and will now face Sweden, Finland and Canada on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. NHL Network will televise each of those games.
The original rosters of 42 invitees were trimmed to 32 to form the U.S. group that will play those final three games. Bellows and Keller lead six Boston University Terriers in the group, the most of any school. Michigan and Minnesota each have three representatives.
The Finnish team features six NCAA representatives: Kasper Bjorkqvist (Providence), Henrik Borgstrom (Denver), Jesper and Julius Mattila (Boston College), Sami Tavernier and Eeli Tolvanen (Boston College). Each will arrive on campus this fall except for Tolvanen, who is a 2017-18 commit.
Canada’s roster includes first-round NHL Draft picks Dante Fabbro (Boston University) and Tyson Jost (North Dakota).
