Commits Among U.S. NTDP Team
23 players selected to join USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program.
Eighteen players already committed to NCAA schools are among the 23 players named to the 2017-18 U.S. National Under-17 Team, USA Hockey has announced.
The 13 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders have been selected to join USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in Plymouth, Mich., for next season.
Boston College leads the eight NCAA programs with future players on the roster. The Eagles have six commits named to the team, followed by Boston University and Harvard (three each), Wisconsin (two), and North Dakota, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Quinnipiac (one each).
The U.S. National Under-17 Team will play in the USHL, as well as select competition against teams in the NAHL and Minnesota Elite League. It will also compete in three international tournaments: the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the 2017 Four Nations Tournament and the 2018 Five Nations Tournament.
USA Hockey also announced the addition of two goaltenders to the 2017-18 National Under-18 Team: Drew DeRidder and Jon Mor. DeRidder is a Michigan State commit who spent 2016-17 with the USHL’s Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, while Mor, who is uncommitted, spent most of the season with the Chicago Young Americans U16 team.
