HockeyTV to Broadcast Prospects Game
CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game features 40 current or future NCAA players.
Forty current or future NCAA players are among the 42 participants at Thursday’s CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game, which HockeyTV will carry live at 7 p.m. ET from Buffalo’s KeyBank Center.
Legendary defensemen Chris Chelios and Brian Leetch – who played at Wisconsin and Boston College, respectively – are the head coaches for the sixth annual game, which showcases the top U.S. players eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft.
Leetch’s roster features the two NCAA freshmen in the game, Michigan’s Quinn Hughes and Boston University’s Brady Tkachuk. Both are heralded as potential top-10 picks next June.
Sixteen NCAA schools have committed recruits participating in the game.
Among the other highlights on the rosters:
- Twenty-seven participants are playing in the USHL this season, 14 of them with the U.S. National Under-18 Team
- Chelios will coach three future Wisconsin defensemen (Ty Emberson, Cole Krygier and K’Andre Miller), while Krygier’s brother and fellow future Badger Christian Krygier is on Team Leetch
- Michigan has three representatives on each roster, highlighted by Hughes
- Fans of nine schools will have divided loyalties; Boston University, Denver, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Notre Dame, Providence and Wisconsin each have representatives on both rosters
- One player, goaltender Jon Mor on Team Leetch, is NCAA eligible but not yet committed to a school
