Western Michigan’s Colt Conrad (St. Alphonse, Man./Shattuck St. Mary’s) and Boston University’s Dante Fabbro (New Westminster, B.C./Penticton-BCHL/NSH) will spend next week in Davos, Switzerland, as members of Canada’s National Men’s Team competing in the 2018 Spengler Cup.

The two current collegians join 11 NCAA alumni on the 25-man Canadian roster that will be looking to win the Spengler Cup for the fourth consecutive year. Guiding the group will be head coach and Denver alum Kevin Dineen.

The Spengler Cup features Canada and five European teams, hosted by HC Davos of the Swiss league. The games, which run from Dec. 26-31, culminate with the championship on Dec. 31 and are televised in Canada on TSN.

Twelve NCAA schools have players or alumni on the Canadian roster. New Hampshire, with alums Jacob Micflikier and Daniel Winnik, is the lone school with multiple representatives.

Conrad currently shares the team lead in scoring at Western Michigan, where the senior is an assistant captain. He has six goals and 18 points through 16 games this season and 90 points in his college career.

Fabbro leads BU in scoring this season as the junior defenseman and co-captain has posted three goals and 13 points through 16 games. The Predators’ first-round pick is a two-time member of Canada’s National Junior Team.

Conrad and Fabbro will be playing alongside the likes of Kevin Bieksa (Bowling Green), Dominic Moore (Harvard) and Winnik, all of whom spent last season in the NHL. Andrew Ebbett (Michigan) is also on the team after representing Canada at the Olympics last year.
