Sixty percent of all Division I programs have a player or recruit featured in NHL Central Scouting’s Final Rankings for the 2019 NHL Draft, released Monday.

A total of 115 current or future NCAA players are highlighted in the rankings, representing 36 schools. That group of players includes 49 of the top 98 North American skaters ranked. The 115 players ranked is 7% more than last year (107) and 26% more than two seasons ago (91).

Minnesota leads all schools with 11 players or commits in the rankings, followed by Boston University (8), Providence (8), Boston College (6), North Dakota (6) and Wisconsin (6). The 36 schools with a player or commit included is one more than last year’s final rankings.

Five conferences and independent Arizona State are represented in the rankings.

A few more notes on the 115 players/recruits featured:

  • Five recently finished their NCAA freshman seasons, led by Providence forward Tyce Thompson (Milford, Conn./Dubuque-USHL) at No. 83
  • 101 are skaters, while 14 are goaltenders
  • It marks a slight rise from the 113 who were listed in NHL Central Scouting’s mid-term rankings
  • Six are not currently committed to a school but play in an NCAA-eligible junior league
  • 53 are currently playing in the USHL, including 18 with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program

The 2019 NHL Draft will be held June 21-22 at Rogers Arena, home of the Vancouver Canucks.
