Field Announced for 2025 NCAA DI Men’s Tournament
Four Regional Winners Will Advance to Frozen Four

The 16-team field was announced Sunday afternoon for the 2024 NCAA Division I men’s hockey tournament, kicking off the road to the NCAA Frozen Four in St. Louis.
Boston College, Michigan State, Maine and Western Michigan earned the top four seeds in the tournament, which begins Thursday and Friday at four pre-determined regional sites. The winners from each region will advance to the NCAA Frozen Four from April 10-12 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
No. 1 overall seed Boston College will face Atlantic Hockey champion Bentley at the Manchester (N.H.) Regional:
- No. 1 Boston College vs. No. 4 Bentley (Friday @ 2pm ET, ESNPU)
- No. 2 Providence vs. No. 3 Denver (Friday @ 5:30pm ET, ESPN+)
Big Ten regular-season and playoff champion Michigan State is the No. 2 overall seed and faces ECAC playoff champion Cornell in the Toledo (Ohio) Regional:
- No. 1 Michigan State vs. No. 4 Cornell (Thursday @ 5:30pm ET, ESPN+)
- No. 2 Boston University vs. No. 3 Ohio State (Thursday @ 2pm ET, ESPNU)
Hockey East Tournament champion Maine is the No. 3 overall seed and was placed in the Allentown (Pa.) Regional:
- No. 1 Maine vs. No. 4 Penn State (Friday @ 8:30pm ET, ESPN2)
- No. 2 UConn vs. No. 3 Quinnipiac (Friday @ 5pm ET, ESPNU)
NCHC regular-season and playoff champion Western Michigan secured the No. 4 overall seed and draws CCHA regular-season and playoff champion Minnesota State in the Fargo (N.D.) Regional:
- No. 1 Western Michigan vs. No. 4 Minnesota State (Thursday @ 5pm ET, ESPNU)
- No. 2 Minnesota vs. No. 4 UMass (Thursday @ 8:30pm ET, ESPN2)
All games will also be streamed live on ESPN+ in the United States and on TSN+ in Canada.
