Collegians accounted for nine of the U.S. team's 11 goals in an 11-3 rout of Denmark, blowing the game open with a 6-0 second period. Former Boston University star Charlie Coyle had a hat trick for the Americans.

Minnesota's Kyle Rau scored twice in the second period for the U.S., while his linemate - both for the Gophers and Team USA - Nick Bjugstad added a goal.

Colorado College's Jaden Schwartz, captaining the Canadian team, had two assists in his team's opening 8-1 victory against Finland.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday, with the U.S. facing Finland and Canada hosting the Czech Republic.
