The NCAA has released the 2012-13 rulebook along with a video that details the rules changes and points of emphasis adopted by the NCAA Ice Hockey Rules Committee for the 2012-13 season.

Significant rules changes for the upcoming season include:

• Awarding goals when pucks are deflected off of the skate
• Awarding goals when the net is partially dislodged
• Disallowing hand passes in the defensive zone
