Now in his fourth year with the CCHL’s Nepean Raiders, new Robert Morris commit Brandon Watt will head to campus in 2015 with a championship pedigree.

“It’s been a really good place to develop, and we’ve been competitive in each of my four years here,” he said Monday. “Two years ago we were fortunate enough to win the league championship, and it’s nice to know what it takes to win.”

The Raiders’ alternate captain, who hails from Nepean, Watt has improved his offensive output each season. The 6-foot, 188-pound forward currently has 21 points in 26 games.

College hockey first came into focus as a goal for Watt in 2010, his minor midget year. The following year he attended a College Hockey Inc. Summit in Montreal, about two hours from Nepean.

'You Can't Beat It'

“Scholarship-wise and opportunity-wise, you can’t beat it,” Watt said. “Getting a scholarship and having the chance to do what you love while you get an education at the same time is ideal.”

He will join a Colonial roster that features four former CCHL stars already. He made a recent visit to campus, while sold him on his commitment.

“When I came down I just loved the feel of the school,” Watt said. “Campus was beautiful and it was a terrific environment.

“It’s a really good feeling to know where I’m headed.”
