Twenty-six players committed to Division I schools were among those selected in Phase One or tendered by teams prior to the draft. That represents more than 70% of all 1999-born NCAA commits; as a group those 26 players are committed to 21 schools.

Dartmouth, Minnesota Duluth, Northeastern, Providence and Vermont each had two recruits who either tendered with a USHL team or were taken in the draft.

Future St. Cloud State Husky Ryan Poehling was the first overall selection in Phase One, with the Lakeville North (Minn.) HS star going to the Lincoln Stars. Four other committed players were taken in the first round: Matt Anderson (Minnesota Duluth), Thomas Miller (Michigan State), Mick Messner (Wisconsin) and Brock Caufield (Ohio State).

Most of the first round - and the vast majority of the draft - featured uncommitted players. First rounders who have yet to select a school include Wyatt Bongiovanni, Cameron Hausinger, Clayton Phillips, Marko Reifenberger, Baker Shore and Reilly Walsh.
