Preliminary rosters for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey feature a significant NCAA influence, highlighted by 13 former college players among the first 16 players named to the United States team.

In addition, four alums will represent the 23-and-under Team North America, two are on Canada and Czech Republic and Team Europe's initial rosters feature one each.

Wisconsin leads the 12 schools featured with four former Badgers among those named - all on Team USA. North Dakota has three former players who will participate while Boston College, Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota have two each.

Many more NCAA alums will be among the candidates to be added to the eight teams in the field as they complete their 23-man rosters.

The tournament begins Sept. 17, with all games set for Toronto.
