Trio Named to Hobey Hat Trick
Connor, Demko, Vesey up for college hockey's highest individual honor.

Michigan's Kyle Connor, Boston College's Thatcher Demko and Harvard's Jimmy Vesey make up the 2016 Hobey Hat Trick, finalists for college hockey's top individual honor to be awarded on April 8 in Tampa.

The trio features a senior, a freshman and a goaltender, with Demko the lone representative whose team will be in Tampa. The three finalists were selected from the initial list of 10 candidates by the 27-member selection committee.

The Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced Friday, April 8, at the historic Tampa Theatre. The 36th annual announcement will be televised live on NHL Network and streamed at hobeybakeraward.com. More on each finalist:

Kyle Connor, Michigan (Shelby Twp., Mich./Youngstown-USHL/WPG)

  • Big Ten Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and first-team all-conference
  • Leads the nation with 35 goals and 71 points
  • Finished the season with a 27-game point streak

Thatcher Demko, Boston College (San Diego, Calif./U.S. NTDP/VAN)

  • Hockey East co-Player of the Year and first-team all-conference
  • Leads the nation with 10 shutouts and is tied for second with a .936 save percentage
  • Most Outstanding Player at the Northeast Regional

Jimmy Vesey, Harvard (N. Reading, Mass./South Shore-EJHL/NSH)

  • ECAC Player of the Year, Ivy League Player of the Year and Walter Brown Award winner (top U.S.-born player in New England) for the second year in a row
  • Ranked seventh nationally with 1.37 points per game
