Seventeen current or former NCAA players - highlighted by all three members of Michigan's "CCM Line" this season - have been named to preliminary rosters for the 2016 IIHF World Championship that will be held May 6-22 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.

The United States and Canada have both announced preliminary rosters with plans to add to them prior to the start of the tournament.

Twelve schools have players represented: four from Boston College, three from Michigan, plus one each from Alabama-Huntsville, Maine, Miami, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Princeton, RIT, St. Cloud State, Wisconsin and Union.

This marks the second straight year that USA Hockey will bring multiple players who played college hockey during the season to the tournament, which is typically dominated by NHL players. Last year Dylan Larkin, Alex Lyon and Jimmy Vesey all joined Team USA for the World Championship. This season, in addition to Michigan's CCM Line, Boston College's Thatcher Demko, Steve Santini and Miles Wood and Minnesota's Hudson Fasching are all part of the team.

Former Boston University player and assistant coach John Hynes of the New Jersey Devils is the head coach of the U.S. team, and his coaching staff includes Boston University head coach David Quinn.
