After a record setting 2016 NHL Draft, NCAA hockey is poised for another big year among draft-eligible players in 2017. Sixty-eight NCAA players or recruits - representing nearly one-half of all Division I programs - are featured on NHL Central Scouting's Futures List for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Minnesota and Wisconsin lead the 28 schools featured on the list with five recruits each on the list. Michigan State and Minnesota Duluth have four each.

Incoming freshmen like Patrick Khodorenko (Michigan State), Luke Martin (Michigan) and Jake Oettinger (Boston University) are featured among the 68 players, most of whom would be 2017 or '18 enrollees.

Central Scouting's Futures List is not ranked, but features players whose past performances have earned them consideration for the 2017 draft. NHL Central Scouting will release an updated "players to watch" list in September.

"The list is based on evaluations we made of the players during the 2015-16 season," said Director of Central Scouting Dan Marr. "A number of these players will be changing teams for 2016-17 and that will be reflected in our preliminary players to watch list in September."
