USA Hockey released the 22-man roster for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, a group that includes 20 players already committed to Division I schools. The team travels to Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., for the event, which runs from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5.
The team is comprised primarily of full-time members of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program's Under-17 team, with the additions of Christian Krygier (Lincoln Stars/Wisconsin) and Jacob Semik (Dubuque Fighting Saints/Michigan).
Ten schools have a future player on the roster, led by Boston University with four commits. Notre Dame and Wisconsin both have three recruits on the team while Denver and Michigan have two apiece.
Michigan State alumnus Danton Cole of the NTDP will be the head coach of the U.S. team for the fourth time in the event, having coached the U.S. to three top-three finishes previously.
Canada enters three teams in the event, including an NCAA commit on each roster. Sean Comrie (Denver), Cameron Hillis (Providence) and Jonathan Tychonick (North Dakota) are among the handful of Canadian players from NCAA-eligible junior leagues.
Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and Sweden also have teams in the event.
