Michigan State’s Isaac Howard Captures Hobey Baker Award
Boston College’s Jacob Fowler Named Mike Richter Award Winner

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Michigan State junior forward Isaac Howard has been named the 2025 recipient of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given annually to the best player in NCAA Division I men’s hockey.
The announcement was televised live Friday on NHL Network from Stifel Theatre on the eve of the NCAA Frozen Four championship game between Boston University and Western Michigan.
Howard, who was also named a first-team All-American, appeared in 37 games this season and leads the NCAA in points per game (1.41), while ranking third in goals (26) and fifth in points (52). The Hudson, Wis., native became the third Spartan to win the Hobey Baker Award, joining Ryan Miller (2001) and Kip Miller (1990).
The 2024-25 Big Ten Player of the Year, Howard was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round (31st overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
Boston College sophomore goalie Jacob Fowler won the Mike Richter Award as the nation’s top goaltender. A native of Melbourne, Fla., native, Fowler was also named to the All-America East First Team after going 25-7-2 with a 1.63 goals against average and .940 save percentage. He added seven shutouts and helped lead the Eagles to a second straight Hockey East regular-season championship.
