At least 20 future NCAA players will be among those pursuing the United States’ 16th straight medal in the Under-18 World Championship that gets underway Wednesday in Sweden.

Nine schools have future players on the U.S. roster, led by Boston College and Boston University with four representatives each. Each member of the roster played for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in 2018-19.

The U.S. team is led by head coach and Notre Dame alumnus John Wroblewski. Included in the United States’ 15 straight medals in the tournament are gold medals in seven of the past 10 years.

In addition to the 20 Americans, Canada features a pair of future NCAA players in Dylan Holloway (Wisconsin) and Alex Newhook (Boston College).
