“To my mom and dad: when I begged you to play hockey at five years old, you signed me up with no dreams of me playing college hockey or playing in the Olympics. It was never about how good I could be or getting a college scholarship. Because when I started playing, there was no girls team to play on, no college scholarships to get and no women’s hockey in the Olympics. It was about letting me play a game that gave me so much joy and put a smile on my face every day.”
