2018 Conference Tournaments


The six Division I conferences each hold a postseason tournament to determine which team earns their automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Atlantic Hockey

Format: All 11 teams make the playoffs. The top five seeds receive first-round byes while Nos. 6 through 8 host Nos. 9 through 11 in best-of-three first-round series. The teams that advance are reseeded and face the top three seeds (No. 4 hosts No. 5) in best-of-three quarterfinal series on campus sites.

Big Ten

Format: All seven teams make the playoffs, which are held over the first three weekends of March at campus sites. The top seed receives a first-round bye, while Nos. 2, 3 and 4 each host best-of-three quarterfinal series. The two highest remaining seeds host single-elimination semifinal games the following Saturday. The championship game will be held the next Saturday, at the highest remaining seed.

ECAC Hockey

Format: All 12 teams make the playoffs. The top four seeds receive first-round byes while Nos. 5 through 8 host Nos. 9 through 12 in best-of-three first-round series. The teams that advance are reseeded and face the top four seeds in best-of-three quarterfinal series on campus sites.

WCHA
