Sixty-eight current or future college players were selected in the NHL Draft that was held Friday and Saturday in Pittsburgh, the most players with college ties to be taken since 2007.

Jacob Trouba, headed to Michigan in the fall, was the first college player taken at ninth overall. He was one of six college players to be selected in Friday's first round.

Boston University had eight recruits selected, twice as many as any other college team. Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State each had four selections. Nearly half of all Division I programs - 29 of 59 - had at least one representative selected. Nine of the 68 selections were of players who spent 2011-12 in college.

In the course of the two days nearly all of the NHL teams - 27 of 30 - selected at least one player who was in college or headed to school.

At least 60 current or future college players have been taken in each NHL Draft since its current seven-round format was adopted in 2005.
