In between those big stages he returned to North Dakota to finish the fall semester and face Western Michigan this weekend. He also checked in with TSN 1040 in Vancouver and raved about his experience in Grand Forks.

"It's a pretty terrific program," the Colorado Avalanche first-round pick said. "I was a little bit blown away when I got here for the first time and actually got to touch things and be a part of their culture.

"It's everything I expected and more, nothing but great things down here."

Jost (St. Albert, Alta./Penticton-BCHL/COL) was the CJHL Player of the Year last season and a heralded recruit, named the top freshman in college hockey by ISS Hockey. He has starred in the season's first 16 games, recording 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists), including the two-goal effort Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

At Canada's camp he will be reunited with his Penticton teammate, Boston University freshman Dante Fabbro (New Westminster, B.C./Penticton-BCHL/NSH).

In his Vancouver radio interview, Jost offered a scouting report on current teammate and Canucks draft pick Brock Boeser (Burnsville, Minn./Waterloo-USHL/VAN) and raved about the gameday experience at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

"It helps when you play in front of 12,000 fans every night who are going crazy," he said. "It's been a pretty surreal experience so far."

With World Juniors and the second half of the season approaching fast, there are many more surreal experiences to come for Jost.
